Joan Casanovas won a total of four events and helped the Panthers to a first place finish at the D-II Showcase hosted by Florida Tech. The sophomore from Spain won the 200 Free (1:40.41), the 500 Free (4:31.07) and the 1000 Free (9:22.52). He also was on Drury's first place 200 Free Relay team. The weekend meet in Florida was Drury's season opener for the 2017-18 season.
