Jenifer Bahner's Drury Volleyball Panthers will be looking to start a new winning streak when they head to St. Louis for matches at Maryville (7 p.m. Friday) and Missouri-St. Louis (3 p.m. Saturday) in Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend.
Drury fell to 8-4 overall and 3-4 in the GLVC with Tuesday's 3-1 loss at Missouri Science & Technology, which snapped the Panthers' three-match winning streak. Maryville is 7-6 overall and 3-4 in the league and UMSL will take marks of 7-5 and 4-3 into a Friday match vs. S&T before hosting the Panthers.
Drury enters the Maryville match tied for fifth in the GLVC West standings with the Saints.Â
Sophomore
Brooke Antenen ranks fifth in the GLVC in assists per set (10.81) and eighth in service aces (0.31 per set). Junior
Laynie Timmons is sixth in the league in blocks (1.07 per set), while sophomore
Bridget Justis is ninth in digs per set (4.55).
Junior
BJ Specht is the reigning GLVC Offensive Player of the Week after her work in helping the Panthers to wins last weekend over previously unbeaten Rockhurst and William Jewell, including a DU career-high 18 kills in the former.
Drury leads Maryville 5-2 in the all-time series and trails UMSL 15-14. The Panthers swept the games with the St. Louis schools last year in Springfield, winning both matches 3-1.
