Drury pushed its winning streak to six matches by defeating McKendree 3-0 on Senior Day Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference play at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Coach
Jenifer Bahner's Panthers improved to 14-8 overall and 5-8 in the GLVC by beating McKendree (14-10, 8-5) by set scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-20.
Sophomore
Brooke Antenen had 11 kills, 23 assists and 21 digs to lead the Panthers, who received seven kills and six blocks from junior
Chloe Foster.Â
Sara Borneman had nine kills and
Brooke Foster added seven digs and four assists as two of the three seniors honored in pregame festivities. The third -
Alexis Dutt - suffered a torn ACL in August, but entered the match early to serve a point for the Panthers.
"Drury Volleyball had a great weekend of play while honoring our senior teammates, Sarah, Brook and Alexis," Bahner said. "Both Sarah and Brooke contributed to our win against McKendree today, and it was very exciting to get Alexis on the court for one serve during her senior day.Â
"The two matches this weekend (including a 3-0 win over Illinois Springfield on Saturday) were some of the best volleyball I believer our team has played all year in terms of consistency and finishing matches. Going into the last part of the season, our goal has been to finish strong, and I believe this weekend was one step in that direction. I hope we can use this positive momentum to prepare over the next two days for our final home match versus S&T on Wednesday."
Drury will conclude the three-match homestand by playing host to Missouri Science and Technology in a 7 p.m. start on Wednesday at The O', a match to be televised by Mediacom Connections 22.
