UMSL Downs DU Women's Soccer in GLVC Tourney 2-1 in OT

ST. LOUIS - Miriam Taylor scored at the 94:20 mark in overtime to give Missouri-St. Louis a 2-1 overtime victory over the Drury women's soccer team in the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament at UMSL field on Sunday.

Drury, the fifth seed, finishes 9-5-4 overall and Missouri-St. Louis, the four seed, improved to 11-3-4.

Senior Emily Cline netted the first goal of the contest and her seventh of the season beating the keeper and a defender from the left side off a Ciara O'Brien assist to give DU a 1-0 lead at the 15:59 mark.

The Tritons answered and tied it up at the 30:27 mark when Kayla Delgado scored her seventh goal of the season beating a Panther defender into the right corner.

Taylor's game winning goal came off a Sidney Allen assist and was her 11th of the season, coming from the right side into the left corner.

UMSL dominated the game offensively outshooting Drury 22-7 with 14 first half shots and 11 of those were on goal.  DU goalie Tina Haberberger matched her season high with nine saves in the contest.

UMSL will travel to top seeded Bellarmine on November 6th for second round GLVC Tournament action.  Bellarmine hung on for a 2-1 double overtime win over eighth seeded McKendree Sunday.

Other scores in opening round GLVC Tournament action included third seeded Quincy blanking sixth seeded Lewis 4-0 and second seeded Truman State getting past seventh seed Rockhurst 2-1.
