Drury Basketball's Saturday afternoon Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup at Maryville, at a glance ...

*THE MATCHUP: Drury (4-2, 1-0 in the GLVC) will play at Maryville (2-5, 0-1) in a 3 p.m. tipoff Saturday at Moloney Arena in Chesterfield, Mo.

*RADIO/TV/INTERNET: The game can be heard on JOCK 98.7 FM, and online at www.radiospringfield.com. A free, live webcast will be available at www.maryvillesaints.com on the GLVC Sports Network.

*ABOUT THE PANTHERS: Drury overcame a sluggish start - trailing 13-0 shortly after the opening tip - before surging back to claim a 60-51 victory at Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday in the GLVC opener for both teams. Kameron Bundy and Lucciano Gamiz had 16 points each to lead the Panthers, who trailed 30-28 at halftime. The Panthers held UMSL to 35-percent shooting, including a 6-for-32 effort from 3-point range. Drury also claimed a 37-34 advantage on the boards, led by eight from St. Louis area native Drew Moore.

*SCOUTING MARYVILLE: The Saints of coach Kevin Carroll opened GLVC play with an 83-73 loss at Missouri S&T on Thursday in Rolla. Maryville trailed 40-35 at halftime, and lost despite outrebounding the Miners 38-29 for the game - a figure offset by 19 Maryville turnovers to just eight by S&T. Marvin Grant-Clark had 19 points, Derek Deters added 12 points and Saikou Jallow had 10 points for the Saints, who are averaging 80.0 points per game but giving up 81.0. Grant-Clark, a 6-3 sophomore, averages 18.1 points and 5.0 rebounds to lead the Saints, while Max Mischkulnig, a 6-9 junior, adds 14.0 points and 6.3 rebounds. Grant-Clark is shooting 96 percent (42 of 44) from the free-throw line.

*THE SERIES: Drury leads the all-time series 11-1, including a 71-54 victory at Moloney Arena last season. Drury has won four straight from the Saints since suffering a 73-55 at Maryville on February 9, 2012, the Panthers' lone loss in the series.

*ABOUT THE PANTHERS: Drury is led offensively by its backcourt of senior preseason consensus All-America selection Kameron Bundy (19.3 points per game), sophomore transfer Tevin Foster (16.2 ppg) and senior Lucciano Gamiz (10.3 ppg). Freshman forward Douglas Moore (out with a foot injury) leads the team with 5.5 rebounds per game, while Nadir Alston pulls down 4.3 boards, Gamiz 4.2 boards and Bundy 4.0 rebounds per game. Drury is 3-0 this season when it outrebounds the opponent.

*BUNDY CLIMBING THE CHARTS: With 116 points this season, Bundy now has scored 1,335 in his Drury career, good for 21st on the Panthers' all-time charts. The former Nixa High School standout needs seven points to pass Tony King (1,341 from 1984-88) for 20th place on the list. Bundy has scored in double-figures in all six games this season and 11 straight games dating back to last year. Bundy has reached double-digits in 56 of his 64 games since moving into the starting lineup for the Panthers at the beginning of his sophomore season, including 27 games of scoring 20 or more points. Interestingly, he has yet to have a 30-point game (career high of 28 points against Parkside in the GLVC tourney last season); although, Bundy did score 40 in an exhibition win over Missouri Baptist to begin this season.

*HESSER CLOSING IN ON 250: Drury head coach Steve Hesser, now in his 12th season at the helm of the Panthers and the winningest coach in the program's history, is now 248-90 (a .737 winning percentage) in his DU and collegiate coaching career. That includes an 84-19 record dating back to the start of the 2012-13 season, when the Panthers went on to finish 31-4 and claim their first NCAA-II national championship. His DU squads have also captured two of the past three GLVC Championships and made three consecutive NCAA-II tourney appearances in that stretch. Hesser's Panthers are 2-1 this season in games decided by five points or less, continuing his outstanding trend in that regard: In 12 seasons, Hesser's Panthers are 62-27 (.701 win percentage) in that scenario, including 25-8 (.774) since the start of the 2012-13 campaign.

*ON DECK FOR THE PANTHERS: Drury will take a game break next week for final exams before resuming GLVC play at Missouri S&T on Saturday (3 p.m.) in Rolla. The Panthers then will head to Las Vegas for games December 18-19 against national powers Angelo State and Tarleton State in the South Point Casino Holiday Hoops Classic.
