Panthers Square Off With Bearcats Saturday On "The Courts/The FieldHouse Youth Sports Day" 'At The O'

Drury's Panthers will try to make it seven wins in their last eight games when they take on McKendree in a 3:15 p.m. Great Lakes Valley Conference tipoff Saturday afternoon at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

Saturday is "The Courts/The Fieldhouse Youth Sports Day" at The O', with all kids in free, and those who wear a sports team t-shirt or uniform top (from any sport) allowing their parents to pay just $1 admission. The day will include a post-game "Knockout" competition by ages and genders for prizes, a halftime showcase of young talent from The Courts and The Fieldhouse, and a post-game poster signing party with both the Lady Panthers and Panthers on the afternoon.

Coach Steve Hesser's Panthers downed Illinois Springfield 70-55 on Thursday night at The O' to improve to 15-5 overall and regain sole possession of first place in the GLVC West with a 9-3 mark after Truman State (8-4) fell 89-73 at Bellarmine.

McKendree is 9-11 overall and 2-10 in the GLVC after Thursday's 85-72 loss at Missouri S&T in Rolla.

Logan Carson, a 6-5 senior, averages 15.3 points to lead McKendree, which receives 15.2 points per game from 6-6 junior Brandon Book for veteran coach Harry Statham's squad. Matt Holmes, a 6-5 senior, adds 13.5 points and a team-leading 7.8 rebounds while Michael Jackson, a 6-5 sophomore, adds 13.0 points per game.

Statham is college basketball's all-time leader in victories with 1,086, now in his 49th season at McKendree.

Drury made a season-high 12 3-pointers in Thursday's victory, including a career-best six from junior guard Kameron Bundy, who led the Panthers with 24 points. Junior post John Caraballo had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes, all career-bests.

Bundy averages a team-high 17.8 points and Cameron Adams adds 17.0 points for the Panthers. Bundy now has scored 1,050 points in his DU career, ranking him in 38th place, and needs three points to surpass current DU assistant coach Brandon Kimbrough (1,052 from 2004-07) for 37th. Adams has 1,406 career points, and needs six points to pass Jasen Fronabarger (1,411 from 1995-99) for 18th place on the DU charts.

Drury leads the all-time series with the Bearcats 8-4, including a hard-fought, 78-74 triumph in Lebanon, Ill., last season.

Saturday's game can be heard on JOCK 98.7 FM (streamed live at www.jock987.com), and can be viewed in a free, live webcast at www.drurypanthers.com/watch.
