WESTFIELD, Ind. – 18
th ranked Indianapolis swept the Drury Softball Panthers in their GLVC opener 2-0 and 7-0 at Grand Park on Saturday.
Drury is now 6-8, 0-2 GLVC and Indianapolis improved to 13-5 overall and 2-0 in GLVC play.
In the opener the Greyhounds scored two runs in the opening inning on a two hits and an error. Pitcher Morgan Foley (9-3) had an excellent outing highlighted with 19 strikeouts while holding the Panthers to just one hit coming in the second inning by
Shelby Weissenbach for the win. Weissenbach (4-2) allowed just two hits in the loss and struckout seven.
In the nightcap Indianapolis got on the board in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly and then broke the game open with six runs on six hits in the fourth for a 7-0 lead they would keep for the remainder of the contest. UINDY recorded 10 hits while Samantha Hogan (4-0) allowed just two hits for the win those coming by
Chantal Oelrich and Weissenbach.
Jessica Kjeldgaard (2-4) received the loss for Drury.
The Drury Softball Panthers will continue GLVC road action at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana tomorrow at noon when they take on Saint Joseph's.
