WESTFIELD, Ind. – The Drury Softball Panthers earned a GLVC road split at Saint Joseph's on Sunday winning the nightcap 6-2 and falling 4-0 in the opener at Grand Park.
Drury is now 7-9, 1-3 GLVC and Saint Joseph's is now 10-8 overall and 3-1 GLVC.
In the nightcap an RBI double by
Carson Forge scored
Kari Hillenburg to get Drury on the board in the opening inning and
Grace Hargadon singled to plate Forge for a 2-0 Drury lead.
The Pumas scored a run on a Briana Wagner homer and had four hits in the bottom of the first to cut the Panther lead to 2-1. Hillenburg homered in the Panther second to push the Drury lead to 3-1. The Panthers continued to build their lead in the third when
Shelby Weissenbach doubled to bring home
Carson Forge.
Saint Joseph's cut the lead to 4-2 on an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth but the Panthers pushed their lead to 6-2 when Rachel Michaelis singled to plate
Chantal Oelrich and Forge.
Forge and Weissenbach (two doubles) each had two hits to pace the Panther offense that finished with eight hits. Emma Littrell had two hits for the Pumas who recorded six hits.
Jessica Kjeldgaard (3-4) earned the win with eight strikeouts and Megan Swartzengraber (4-3) received the loss for Saint Joseph's.
In the opener the Pumas scored three runs on four hits in the bottom of the second for an early lead. An RBI double in the fifth by Saint Joseph's made it 4-0 for what would be a Puma win.
Saint Joseph's finished with eight hits and Drury had four.
Wagner (3-1) earned the win for the Pumas and Weissenbach (4-3) got the loss for the Panthers.
The Drury Softball Panthers will travel to Missouri Southern State for a non-conference pair on Wednesday, March 18 with games starting at 4 p.m.
