An RBI squeeze bunt single by
Marissa Ross in the bottom of the seventh in the opener helped the Drury Softball Panthers earn a non-conference sweep over Lincoln with wins of 3-2 in the opener and 4-1 in the nightcap Tuesday at Thompson Field.
Drury is now 21-25 on the season and Lincoln drops to 3-43 on the year.
In the opener
Rachael Michaelis scored on a Blue Tiger error in the second inning after a sacrifice by
Alyssa Sargent for the Panthers first run of the contest. The Blue Tigers took advantage of three errors in the top of the seventh and scored two runs for a 2-1 lead.Â
An RBI double by
Kari Hillenburg in the seventh tied it up and Ross came through with the game winning hit on a squeeze bunt that scored
Jordan Herman for the 3-2 win in the bottom of the seventh.
Hillenburg had two of the Panthers five hits in the contest with Lincoln getting eight hits.
Jessica Kjeldgaard (11-12) earned the win with eight strikeouts in the contest. Â Madison Ragar (0-19) got the loss for Lincoln and had three strikeouts.
In the nightcap the Blue Tigers scored on an RBI groundout in the opening inning before Drury answered in the second inning on an RBI single up the middle by Sargent to score
Shelby Weissenbach and tie it up.  An RBI single by Michaelis, a Lincoln error that later allowed Michaelis to score and an RBI hit by pitch by Ross in the Panther fourth made it a 4-1 Panther lead. The game was called after five innings due to lightning in the area.
Weissenbach (8-10) earned the win with five strikeouts in five innings and allowed six Lincoln hits. Macie Kinsey (2-13) received the loss for the Blue Tigers and allowed four Drury hits and had a pair of strikeouts. Sargent led the Panthers with two hits, an RBI and scored a run.
Up next for the Drury Softball Panthers will be a non-conference pair vs. Rogers State at Thompson Field on Thursday with games starting at 4 p.m.
