SOMERS, Wis. –
Carson Forge tied the Drury school record for homers (19) with a two run homer in the first inning of the opener to help the Drury Softball Panthers sweep a GLVC road pair 5-2 and 4-1 at Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday.
Drury keeps rolling on their hot streak and has now won eleven of their last twelve games improved to 25-25 overall and 12-16 in the GLVC with Parkside falling to 7-34 overall and 2-24 in the GLVC.
In the opener
Rachael Michaelis followed up Forge's homer scoring on an error to make it a 3-1 lead after two innings. Forge who has 13 homers on the year is also the single season record holder at Drury with 10 being the previous mark. Drury scored their second run off a Rangers error in the third to push their lead to 4-1 and Forge scored on the fifth inning on another Parkside error to make it 5-1. Parkside scored their second run on the contest in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI single. Parkside finished with six hits and Drury had five hits getting two each from Forge and
Marissa Ross.
Jessica Kjeldgaard (15-12) earned the win with eight strikeouts for the Panthers and Carly Dundee (4-16) received the loss for the Rangers.
In the nightcap
Kari Hillenburg who had three hits, had three RBIs and scored a run, blasted a three run homer in the second for a 3-0 lead. The Rangers scored on an RBI single in the sixth for their lone run. Weissenbach homered in the seventh to make it a 4-1 final. Drury finished with nine hits with Parkside having seven.
Shelby Weissenbach (10-10) earned the win for the Panthers with Courtney Ellison (3-15) receiving the loss for the Rangers.
