The Drury Softball Panthers were swept 4-0 and 4-3 in a non-conference pair vs. Missouri Southern at Thompson Field on Tuesday.
Drury is now 13-21 and Missouri Southern moves to 11-27.
In the opener the Lions scratched across a pair of runs in the top of the third on an RBI fielders choice and an RBI single. Southern tacked on two more runs in the sixth on an RBI single and an RBI double for the 4-0 victory. Â
Southern posted 11 hits and with
Grace Hargadon having the Panthers lone hit in the bottom of the seventh. The Lions used two pitchers Kali' Hodson (2-12) who earned the win who threw for three innings and Ashley Lutz who earned her second save of the year.Â
Jessica Kjeldgaard (8-9) received the loss for Drury.
In the nightcap an RBI single by
Jordan Herman in the second followed by a two run homer in the third by
Carson Forge gave the Panthers a 3-0 lead.  The Lions pulled even with Panthers with an RBI single and a two run homer by Kathryn Goins-Osburn in the top of the sixth. Missouri Southern won the game on an error in the top of the seventh for the 4-3 final.
 Ashley Lutz (6-12) earned the win for the Lions with
Hunter Stohlmeyer (0-3) receiving the loss. Both teams had seven hits in the contest with
Kari Hillenburg having two.
The Drury Softball Panthers will return to Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Saturday when they will travel to St. Louis to face Maryville on Saturday in a noon doubleheader.
