SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury held off William Jewell for a 2-0 win at home for their Senior Day game at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers maintained their hold on fifth place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings with the win as they improved to 10-3-3 and 8-3-3 in the league. The Cardinals dropped to 2-12-1 overall and 2-10-1 in the conference.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead 20 minutes into the game when David Cross converted a penalty kick. The goal was the seventh of the season for the defender from Scotland, who was one of four graduating players that Drury honored before the game.
Drury added to their lead in the second half. Pierre Villez scored his first goal of the season giving the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute.
Drury held on from there outshooting William Jewell 23-11 and the Panthers also had a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal.
The Panthers will end the regular season at home on Wednesday against Missouri S&T. The Miners have yet to lose in the GLVC and will enter the game with a 9-0-5 conference record. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Harrison Stadium.
