McKendree pulls away from Panthers following red card

LEBANON, Ill. – Drury battled McKendree to a scoreless tie until early in the second half when a red card to Panthers goalkeeper Tina Haberberger led to a McKendree goal and opened the door for a 4-0 Bearcats win on Sunday at Leemon Field in Lebanon, Illinois.

In the 49th minute, Haberberger's red card set up a penalty shot for McKendree's Syndee Carroll. Carroll converted the attempt for her 12th goal of the season giving the Bearcats a 1-0. Ten minutes later, Carroll scored again and Rachel Kaltwasser scored two more goals for McKendree in the last 18 minutes to put the game out of reach.

The Bearcats put up 31 shots and 13 on goal. Drury had seven shots led by four from Kerri Morris.

The Panthers fell to 4-7-1 and 2-7-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. McKendree improved to 10-3 and 7-3 in the league.

Drury returns home for two games next weekend. The Panthers host Southern Indiana on Friday at Lake Country Soccer Complex for a 5 p.m. game and Sunday Drury plays Bellarmine at Harrison Stadium with game time at noon.
