SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury picked up momentum late in the first set and rolled past Maryville for a 3-0 win at the O'Reilly Family Event Center on Friday.
The Panthers trailed 18-16 in the first set but won nine of the next 12 points to take the set 25-21. Drury didn't cool off as they won the next two sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-15.
"In the second set, Brooke (Antenen) got her serve going and I thought got them out of their system," said Drury head coach
Jenifer Bahner. "I thought we had more positive energy going for us and we fed off of that."
Antenen had 27 assists while fellow senior
McKenna Poynter had 20 digs. Freshman
Kendra Sater led a balanced offensive attack with 10 kills.
The win was Drury's third straight victory and raised their record to 20-10 and 11-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Maryville dropped to 4-26 and 2-15 in the league.
Drury ends the regular season at home on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Missouri-St. Louis, a team they are tied for third with in the GLVC-West.
"Going into Saturday's match, it's not only about avenging a loss we had at their place, it's about where we'll be seeded in the conference tournament," said Bahner. "It's great that we'll be on our home court. We'll honor our seniors so hopefully we can carry over that emotion and end our season on a really high note."
