St. Charles – Grand Valley State used 13 hits to claim a 7-2 win over the Drury baseball Panthers at the Maryville Classic played at Lindenwood University on Friday.
Grand Valley State improves to 2-2 and Drury is now 0-5.
The Panthers opened the game with a solid opening inning going up 2-1 after the first on a RBI single by
Conner Wilson and an RBI triple by
Devan O'Bryan. The Lakers tied it up in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Josh Griffith.
GVSU added three runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth to grab a three run cushion and a 6-2 lead. Drury loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the eighth but failed to score as the Lakers tacked on a run on the bottom half of the inning for what would be a 7-2 final.
Drury finished with seven hits with O'Bryan having two hits and an RBI.
Sterling Sharpe (0-2) received the los for DU and Troy Dykhuis (1-0) earned the win for Grand Valley State.
