DU Softball Plays Host To UMSL, Maryville For Weekend GLVC Play

Coach Chantiel Wilson's Drury softball Panthers will be home for a four-game stand of Great Lakes Valley Conference action this weekend, entertaining Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday and Maryville on Sunday at Thompson Field in Meador Park.

The Panthers are 11-25 overall and 5-13 in the GLVC entering Saturday's noon doubleheader against nationally eighth-ranked UMSL (37-4, 15-3). The Tritons feature senior pitcher Hannah Perryman, who last weekend became the NCAA-II all-time leader in strikeouts with 1,543 in UMSL's split last weekend with Truman State. 

The lefty Perryman had a 22-game winning streak snapped with a 1-0 loss at Truman last Sunday and is 32-2 on the season with a 0.92 ERA and 385 strikeouts in 228 innings.\

Maryville will take records of 27-6 overall and 14-4 in the GLVC into a Saturday twinbill at Missouri S&T before visiting Drury on Sunday for the noon pair at Thompson.

Junior third baseman Kaeli Smith is hitting .342 with 21 RBIs and junior shortstop Kari Hillenburg is batting .299 with 17 runs and 18 stolen bases to lead the DU offense.

Senior right-hander Shelby Weissenbach heads the pitching staff with an 8-12 record and 3.32 ERA.
