Drury renews rivalry with SBU
Drury hosts Southwest Baptist on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the O'Reilly Family Event Center as the two programs renew their Highway 13 rivalry.

The Panthers are 16-6 and last weekend won two out of three matches at the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament in Aurora, Illinois. Drury picked up wins against Tiffin (Ohio) and Michigan Tech out of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and lost on Saturday to Lake Erie (Ohio) from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Drury's Kendra Sater was named to the All-Tournament team in last weekend's event and was the Great Lakes Valley Offensive Player of the Week. The sophomore from Ozark averaged 12.9 assists per set through three games. Sater had a total of 129 assists in the three matches to go along with four service aces. Her week was highlighted by 49 assists, nine digs and a block in Drury's 3-0 win over Michigan Tech on Friday. Sater currently leads the GLVC in assists averaging 11.75 per set.

SBU is 2-20 and has lost eight straight. The two Bearcat wins came at Southern Nazarene 3-2 on Sept. 16 and at home over Pittsburg State 3-2 on Sept. 22.

Southwest Baptist is led by former Drury assistant coach Caira Dortch. Now in her third season, Dortch was a member of the Panthers coaching staff from 2011-14. She was an assistant coach for Evangel University in 2009 and helped the Crusaders to a 28-9 record as well as the program's first-ever Heart of America conference championship in volleyball and a NAIA national tournament berth.

Drury leads the all-time series against SBU 52-21 and won the earlier meeting this season 3-1 (17-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-17) on Sept. 9 in Bolivar. The game was part of the SBU Invitational tournament. Sarah Kite led the Panthers with 14 kills while Faith Alwardt added 12. Tuesday's game will be Drury's last non-conference match of the regular season.

After Tuesday's match, Drury returns to conference play as they travel to Illinois Springfield for a game on Friday at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Panthers continue the road trip with a 3 p.m. match at Quincy.
