EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Southern Indiana scored three first half goals, then tacked on two more in the second for a 5-0 win over the Drury women's soccer team on Friday.
The Panthers fell to 6-7-2 and 4-7-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Southern Indiana improved to 7-4-4 and 5-3-4 in the GLVC.
USI's Haley Rheinlander netted the first goal off a well placed corner kick four minutes into the contest. In the 14
th minute Alexa Kelpe scored on a scrum near the goal to make it a 2-0 Screaming Eagles lead. Maggie Winter made it a 3-0 lead at the half with a goal at the 40 minute mark.
USI picked up where they left off with a goal on a penalty kick by Olivia Wilde four minutes into the second half. With four minutes left in the game Carlie Scales scored to make it a 5-0 final.
USI outshot the Panthers 16-5 and placed twelve of those on goal.
Drury returns to action on October 22 when they play at Bellarmine. Game time is 11 a.m. Central Standard time.
