Panthers rally falls short at Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Drury battled from a two-goal deficit to threaten Bellarmine but could not find a way to draw even as the Knights held off the Panthers for a 3-2 on Sunday in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Panthers dropped to 7-7-1 and 6-6-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Bellarmine improved to 10-4-1 and 8-4-1 in the league.

The Knights scored the game's first two goals before Drury got back in the game just before halftime. Joao Coehlo's goal in the 42nd minute pulled the Panthers within one.

Bellarmine would take their two-goal advantage back, however, in the 79th minute. Nathan Jones' first goal of the season gave the Knights a 3-1 lead on what would prove to be the game-winning goal.

Drury rallied again as Brody Johnson, a freshman from Springfield-Parkview, scored his third goal of the season to give the Panthers a chance late.

The Knights held off Drury's rally in the final eight minutes to secure the win. Bellarmine outshot Drury 19-11 and had the advantage in shots on goal 7-4.

The Panthers end the regular season at home on Wednesday when they host Lewis at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
