Drury Softball Falls 7-0 to Wayne State to Wrap Up Play at NTC Spring Games

CLERMONT, Fla.  –The Drury softball team suffered a 7-0 loss to Wayne State in the last day of action at the NTC Spring Games Monday.  The nightcap vs. Indiana University of Pennsylvania was cancelled due to weather.  

Drury is now 10-11 on the season, and Wayne State improved to 15-5.

The Warriors scored on RBI singles in the bottom of the first, second, and fourth to jump out to a 3-0 lead. 

Wayne State scored four runs in the sixth inning.  The Warriors' big inning was driven by a home run by Megan Guitar, a double by Brooke Turkali, and a home run by Kylee Barrett.

Lyndsay Butler (9-4) earned the win for Wayne State.  She threw six innings, allowing zero runs, two hits, striking out five, and walking zero.  Jessica Kjeldgaard (5-7) took the loss for the Panthers.  She went five and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs, 11 hits, and striking out one.

Marissa Ross and Dominique Salinas each had one hit to lead the Panthers.  The Warriors had 12 hits in the game.  Allie Buchanan and Turkali both went 3 for 4 for WSU.    

On March 18th, Drury will open GLVC play at 19th-ranked Indianapolis.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. (central time).
