SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury University softball is home for conference doubleheaders this weekend at Thompson Field. The Panthers host Truman State on Saturday at noon and are home to face Quincy on Sunday at noon in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
Drury is 15-16 and 3-5 in the GLVC. The Panthers have been idle since last weekend when they opened their home schedule losing twice to 10
th ranked Southern Indiana and splitting a doubleheader against Bellarmine.
The Panthers are led at the plate by
Kelley Conway who is hitting .394 in 15 games. She has a home run and 12 runs batted in.
Kaelie Smith is hitting .355 with a homer and 24 RBI's.
Jessica Kjeldgaard is 7-10 with a 3.29 earned run average to lead the pitching staff.
Destiny Bolen is 8-6 with a 4.18 ERA and the Panthers other starting pitcher.
Truman State is 21-13 with a 4-4 conference record. The Bulldogs have won three of their last four after sweeping a doubleheader from Illinois-Springfield last Sunday and splitting two games with McKendree on March 24. Christa Reisinger leads Truman State and has the top batting average in the GLVC hitting .518 with three home runs and 23 RBI's.
Quincy enters the weekend 10-12 and 4-4 in the league. The Hawks went 2-2 last weekend splitting doubleheaders against McKendree and Illinois-Springfield. Quincy has split five straight doubleheaders going into their Friday match-up at Missouri S&T.
