EVANSVILLE, Ind.-
Ryan Colombo won his fourth straight start and fired a complete game for Drury as the Panthers won the first game in a three-game non-conference series at Southern Indiana, 5-1, on Thursday in Evansville, Indiana.

Colombo (4-0) worked all nine innings allowing six hits and one run while walking just two batters and striking out six. None the hits he allowed went for extra bases. The senior from Topeka, Kansas has won all four of his starts in 2017.

The game was tied until the sixth inning when
Shane Benes put Drury on the board with a RBI single. Drury added another run in the seventh on a hit by
Devan O'Bryan.

The Screaming Eagles made it a 2-1 game in the bottom of the seventh but the Panthers answered with another run in the eighth and put the game away on a two-RBI triple by Benes.

Benes finished the game 2 for 5 with three RBI's and his triple was the only extra-base hit in the game.

Colin Nowak (1-2) took the loss for Southern Indiana.

Drury improved to 8-5 while Southern Indiana dropped to 3-7.

The three-game series continues tomorrow with a doubleheader scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Evansville.
