SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury softball is home for doubleheaders on Sunday and Monday afternoon at Thompson Field for their final four home games of the season. Following Sunday's doubleheader against Illinois-Springfield, the Panthers will honor their seven graduating senior players. On Monday, Drury faces McKendree. Both doubleheaders start at noon.
The Panthers are 19-28 and 6-16 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. They are coming off of a doubleheader split against non-conference opponent Rogers State on Tuesday.
Kelley Conway leads Drury at the plate with a .329 average. She has two home runs and 17 runs batted in.
Kaelie Smith enters Sunday's games hitting .316 with a home run and a team-leading 27 RBI's. Drury's two probable starting pitchers are
Jessica Kjeldgaard (10-15, 3.08 ERA) and
Destiny Bolen (9-13, 4.31 ERA).
Illinois-Springfield is 25-21 and 11-11 in the GLVC. They will enter Sunday's game having won five straight. Amanda Gosbeth leads a balanced line-up with a .346 average, four home runs and 25 runs batted in. Morgan Edwards is hitting .314 with five homers and 26 RBI's. The Prairie Stars are projected to start Ali Haesele (14-6, 2.28 ERA) and Jaycee Craver (7-9, 3.36 ERA) at pitcher in the doubleheader.
McKendree enters the weekend with a 27-18 record and a 13-9 mark in the GLVC. The Bearcats play at Missouri S&T in a doubleheader on Sunday. Jamie Doggendorf leads McKendree hitting .355 with two home runs and 18 RBI's. Rachel Hastings has 40 RBI's, fifth most in the GLVC, to go with a .346 average and seven homers. Their starting pitching tandem includes Holly Magre (13-7, 2.26 ERA) and Kylee Silliman (11-6, 3.29 ERA).
The games were originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday but pushed back a day with rainy weather in the area on Friday and Saturday.
