INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Drury's rally at Indianapolis fell short in a 3-1 loss to the Greyhounds at the Ruth Lily Center in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday. After losing the first two sets, the Panthers were a point away from forcing a fifth set, but Indianapolis scored the final four points of the match to clinch the victory.
Drury dropped to 8-2 and 1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Indianapolis improved to 5-5 and 1-1 in the league.
The Greyhounds won the first two sets, 25-17 and 25-18. Drury bounced back to claim the third set 25-17 and had a 24-22 lead in the fourth. UIndy would then get kills from Rachel Irbe and Katie Voelz to tie the set at 24-24. Teigen Flaws came through with two more kills to give the Greyhounds the win.
Emalee Chrest led the Panthers with 16 kills. The junior from Wamego, Kansas also had two service aces and had 10 digs.
Kendra Sater had 43 assists and
Bree Schmidt had a team-high 15 digs.
Indianapolis logged a .320 hitting percentage in the match and were led by Rachel Irbe's 15 kills.
Drury will play at home for the first time this season on Tuesday. The Panthers host Missouri Southern at 7 p.m. at the O'Reilly Family Event Center for Drury's home opener.
