BOLIVAR – Drury opened action at the Southwest Baptist Invitational with a 3-0 win over Oklahoma Baptist, before downing Adams State 3-1 on Friday.
Against Oklahoma Baptist, the Panthers opened with wins of 25-18 and 25-14 in the opening sets, then finished off OBU 25-21.  
Faith Alwardt, a freshman from Lebanon, had 10 block assists, second most in Panther history, for what is a four-way tie for most blocks a single match.  Faith did it in three sets and the other three Panthers did it in four sets.  It marked the most block assists in a single match since 2006, when Jessica Burns recorded 13 vs. Wisconsin-Parkside.  For the match the Panthers recorded 25 block assists.
   
Sarah Kite had a career-high 15 kills and added 14 digs to lead Drury.  
Kendra Sater had 33 assists while 
Bree Schmidt posted a team-high 22 digs. The loss dropped Oklahoma Baptist to 3-3.
 
Drury completed the day with a 3-1 win over Adams State in four sets (20-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-17). 
Lily Hunter, Kite, and 
Bentley Mara led a balanced Drury effort with 11 kills each.  Sater matched her career-high with 45 assists.  Drury improved to 5-1 and dropped Adams State to 2-5.
 
On Saturday, the Panthers have a 9 a.m. contest against Fort Lewis and then will battle SBU at 7 p.m.
