Panthers seeded as the GLVC's top team in the Crossover Tournament
The 12th ranked Drury Panthers enter the Mizuno Midwest Region Crossover Tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana this weekend as the top team representing the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Panthers will take on the first place team in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and the top team in the Great Lakes Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference among their three games in the event.
 
Drury will face Hillsdale Friday morning at 10:30 a.m., and then will take on Wayne State at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Panthers end their tournament stint with fifth-ranked Ferris State.
 
Drury is 17-3, ranked 12th in NCAA-II and is tied for first place in the GLVC with a 10-1 league record. Hillsdale is 14-3 and has gone 11-0 in the G-MAC. Wayne State enters the tournament 11-8 with a 6-5 conference record. Ferris State is ranked fifth in NCAA-II and own a 16-3 mark with an 11-0 league record.
 
The Panthers faced Ferris State on Aug. 31 in Lakeland, Florida and earned a four-set win over the Bulldogs (25-20, 22-25, 25-23, 25-15).
 
Drury went 2-1 in the Crossover tournament last year but faced three different opponents. The Panthers have gone 4-2 in the event in the previous two years and are 17-12 all-time in the tournament. They posted 3-0 records in the Crossover in 2014 and 2012. This season marks the first time in program history Drury has entered the event as the top seed from their conference.
 
The Panthers return to conference play next week when they travel to Bellarmine for a 6 p.m. (Central) match on Oct. 19 in Louisville, Kentucky.
