KIRKSVILLE, Mo.- The Drury Panthers ended their weekend road trip splitting a doubleheader at Truman State winning game one 3-1 and losing game two 4-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference games on Sunday in Kirksville, Missouri.

Kasey Cazares (3-3) allowed only one unearned run as she picked up the win in game one for Drury. The sophomore from Calexico, California allowed five hits and three walks while recording one strikeout. Drury 2B
Emily Stringer went 4 for 4 with two runs and an RBI.

After allowing a run on a passed ball in the first inning, the Panthers took the lead in the fifth on Madison Hecker's single to center field that drove in Stringer. Stringer then gave Drury a two-run cushion an inning later with a hit to left field that scored Abby LeJong.

In game two, the Panthers had a 2-0 lead after three innings but Truman State battled back to tie the game in the fourth, and they took the lead for good in the sixth.

With the game tied at 2-2 in the sixth, the Bulldogs took the lead on a bunt single from Alyssa Rivera. Truman State tacked on another run later in the inning as Rivera scored on a run-down on the base paths.

Hecker drove in both Drury runs as she had an RBI single in the first inning and she drove in a run with a double in the third.

The Panthers moved their record to 9-15 and 2-8 in the GLVC. Truman State went to 12-9 and 3-3 in the league.Â

Drury returns home for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 31 when they host Rockhurst. Game one starts at noon at Thompson Field.
