Clayton Engel went 2 for 4 with two RBIs to help the Drury baseball Panthers earn a 4-1 victory Sunday at US Baseball Park as they defeated the University of Sioux Falls.
Drury fell behind 1-0 in the third frame, but tied it up in the bottom of the fifth when
Caleb Essick singled to right to plate
Will Sachs. Engel was clutch and had an RBI single that scored
Grant Thimesch and Essick to give Drury the lead in the fifth. A
Brandt Ollinger sacrifice fly capped off a four run four hit Drury fifth.
Sachs went 2 for 3 and scored a run and
KK Daniel had two hits as the Panthers outhit Sioux Falls 8-6.
Ryan Wedermyer (1-0) got the win for Drury as he went 2.1 innings and allowed one hit and no runs.
Nick Costantino got the save and held the Cougars in the ninth inning. Brandon Roseler (0-1) took the loss for Sioux Falls.
Sioux Falls fell to 0-7 while Drury improved to 4-6.
Drury will face the University of Central Missouri on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at US Baseball Park.
