During the next several weeks, we will continue to reveal our Drury Dozen – the top 12 moments from 2017-18 as voted on by members of the Drury University athletics media relations team that covered a variety of DU sports throughout the year.
The list on this countdown does not reflect the most significant moments from the year, although the biggest games/events certainly played a part in our decision. Ultimately, these were our favorite moments from the previous year and the ones that we will likely always associate with the 2017-18 sports season.
#9 – DU men's tennis defeats Ferris State to win NCAA-II Sub-Regional
The Drury men's tennis team won the NCAA-II Midwest Sub-Regional and advanced to the round of 16 with a 5-2 win over 19th ranked Ferris State on May 1 at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
The Panthers, ranked 20th going into the postseason, won the day before over Grand Valley State 5-0. Their win in the second round of the national tournament over Ferris State took them to championship site in Surprise, Arizona where they would later advance to the national quarterfinals for the second straight year.
