SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— William Jewell's Byron Harp made three free throws with 1.9 seconds left to lift the Cardinals past Drury 81-80 on Thursday night in Liberty, Missouri.
The Panthers fell to 7-6 and 1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while William Jewell improved to 7-8 and 1-2 in the league.
The Panthers battled from 12 points down in the second half to take the lead with 17 seconds remaining on a three-pointer by
Allen Billinger that put Drury ahead 80-78.
In the closing seconds, Harp drew a foul on a double-pumped shot attempt from three-point range and was awarded three free throws that put the Cardinals back in front.
"William Jewell was able to get us out of our motion, and we didn't have the same flow we had before the (Holiday) break," said Drury assistant coach

Steve Hesser who was assessed two technical fouls in the 16-minute mark of the second half. "Our guys did show some fight in playing through the adversity that happened with the technical fouls and with our foul trouble. We had some guys step in and make plays down the stretch."
Keith Hayes had 30 points for William Jewell to lead all scorers while Harp added 21 for the Cardinals.
Kamau Kinder led a balanced Drury offense with 15 points while
John Williams came off of the bench with 11 points and
Conley Garrison added 10.
William Jewell went 26 for 36 from the free throw line in the game and shot 42 percent from the field, going 22 for 52 from the floor. The Cardinals hit 11 three-pointers on 30 attempts.
The Panthers connected on 12 of their 21 free throws and shot 46 percent from the floor going 30 for 65.
Drury's road trip continues as they take on Rockhurst on Saturday at 3 p.m.
