Lady Panthers stay unbeaten with 71-46 win at William Jewell

LIBERTY, Mo—The fourth-ranked Drury Lady Panthers kept their record perfect with a 71-46 win over William Jewell on Thursday at the Mabee Center in Liberty, Missouri.

Drury improved to 12-0 and 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while the Cardinals fell to 6-5 and 0-3 in the league. Both teams were returning to action for the first time in more than two weeks.

Hailey Diestelkamp registered her fifth double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds. The junior from Owensville, Missouri went 8 for 11 from the field and added three steals.

Paige Robinson chipped in 16 points while Payton Richards had 11. Daejah Bernard had seven assists and six steals.

"I think the layoff showed as both teams were huffing and puffing a bit, but I'm proud of the defensive pressure we played with in getting them to turn it over," said Drury head coach Molly Miller.

Drury forced William Jewell into 28 turnovers and held the Cardinals to 30 percent shooting from the field. The 30 percent mark is the lowest shooting total Drury has held an opponent to this year as William Jewell went 16 for 53.

The Lady Panthers, meanwhile, shot 52 percent from the field going 28 for 54 from the floor and led by as much as 30 in the fourth quarter.

Drury's road trip in the Kansas City area continues as the Lady Panthers take on Rockhurst on Saturday at 1 p.m.
