Battle of GLVC unbeaten teams as Drury hosts Rockhurst
Drury hosts 12th ranked Rockhurst on Saturday at 3 pm in Weiser Gym in a match-up of two of the three teams in the Great Lakes Valley Conference without a league loss. The Panthers have won seven straight and are 12-7 with a 6-0 mark in the GLVC. The Hawks are 16-3, 6-0 in the league, and winners of 11 in a row.
 
Saturday's game is also a rematch of last year's GLVC tournament championship game won by Rockhurst 3-1 in East Peoria, Illinois. The Hawks won two of the three meetings against Drury last year as the Panthers won at home 3-1 on Sept. 8, 2018, while Rockhurst won the other regular season meeting 3-1 in Kansas City on Nov. 2.
 
Drury and Rockhurst are tied atop the league standings with Lewis as all three teams have not lost yet in conference play. The Flyers are 5-0 in the GLVC entering the weekend.
 
Panthers freshman Julia McCown is sixth in the league in kills averaging 3.49 per set while Makina Wratten is sixth in kills with 1.06 per set.
 
Rockhurst's Karli Reichert ranks third in the GLVC in kills per set, averaging 3.84, and Dani Prusha's 11.1 assists per set rank third in the conference. Hawks head coach Tracy Rietzke entered the season leading all active coaches in NCAA-II in career wins, and he owns a career record of 1,260-280 while in his 32nd year as the Hawks head coach.
 
Next up for both teams is a trip to the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament Oct. 18-19 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
