Lions hold off Drury in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES, Mo.– Drury made threats late in the first half and throughout the second but could not overcome Lindenwood's two first-half goals in a 2-0 loss on Friday in St. Charles, Missouri.

The Lions controlled play early and broke through on a goal by Katie Juhlin in the 19th minute. Seven minutes later, Lindenwood took a 2-0 lead following a corner kick as Kaleigh Kastberg's header snuck under the crossbar.

The Panthers threatened five minutes later when Erica Hartley put a shot on net that was saved by Lions goalkeeper Megan Swanson. Drury put up another three shots with two on target in the second half but could not break through.

Drury goalkeeper Kaitlyn Knetzke kept the Panthers in the game with seven saves.

With the win, Lindenwood improved to 6-7-1 and 5-6-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while Drury went to 1-13-1 and 1-11 in the league.

The Panthers continue their road trip on Sunday as they take on Missouri-St. Louis at noon.
