SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Drury women's soccer team scored three second half goals to get past Illinois-Springfield 3-2 in their season finale Sunday at Kiwanis Stadium.
Illinois-Springfield opened with a goal just eight minutes into the game and added a second goal in the 29
th minute to hold what they thought was a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the second half.
Kennedy Thompson scored a goal for the second game in a row to get the Panthers on the board in the 59
th minute, assisted by
MacKenzie Serrano.
Christine Harpe, a freshman from Kansas City, came through with a goal in the 81
st minute to tie it up and force overtime.
Natalie Beck would put the Panthers game winning and third goal of the half through the net with three minutes remaining in overtime for a 3-2 Panthers win.
UIS outshot Drury 25-10 overall and 13-6 for shots on goal in the contest. Harpe recorded four shots and Thompson had three for the Panthers.
Drury finishes the 2019 season 3-13-2 overall and 3-11-1 in the GLVC and Illinois-Springfield dropped to 8-10 overall and 7-8 in the GLVC.
