Panthers at home fighting to stay atop the GLVC
The Drury Panthers play their final two home games of the regular season this weekend as they fight to stay on top of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Panthers take on Illinois Springfield on Friday at 7 pm and 12th ranked Lewis on Saturday at 3 pm. Saturday is also Senior Day, and the Panthers will honor their three senior players for the game that afternoon.

Drury enters the weekend 16-12 and 10-1 in the conference. The Panthers are tied for first place with Rockhurst, a team they beat earlier this season. Drury won their first 10 league games and is coming off of a 3-1 loss at Missouri S&T last Saturday.

Illinois Springfield is 17-11, 6-5 in the GLVC and in eighth place in the league standings. The Prairie Stars are coming off of a 3-1 win over Wisconsin Parkside in a non-conference game on Tuesday in Springfield.

Lewis is 22-4, 8-3 in the conference, and ranked 12th in this week's NCAA-II coaches' poll. The Flyers enter the weekend tied for third in the GLVC standings and are two games behind Drury and Rockhurst with four games remaining on the regular season schedule.

Drury freshman Julia McCown ranks ninth in the GLVC in kills per set (3.34), while Makina Wratten is fifth in the conference in blocks (1.18 per set), and Paige Perry ranks sixth in digs (4.38 per set).

After this weekend, the Panthers end the regular season on the road and will take on Bellarmine on Nov. 15, then Indianapolis on Nov. 16.
