Panthers overpower Lincoln in doubleheader sweep

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- Drury scored a total of 27 runs on Sunday as they swept a doubleheader from Lincoln winning game one 10-2 and the second game 17-1 at Thompson Field.
 
The Panthers improved to 7-4 and dropped the Blue Tigers to 0-10. 
 
Drury took control of game one with a six-run second inning highlighted by a three-run homer by Jacy Ummel. The Panthers added another run in the third, then scored three times in the fourth as infielder Kinzy Mathis capped the frame driving in two runs with a single.
 
Ummel finished the game going 2 for 3 with two runs, and three RBI's while Mathis went 2 for 2 with two runs scored and two RBI's.
 
Hailey Greenough (1-0) got the win going five innings allowing five hits and two unearned runs with no walks and six strikeouts.
 
The Panthers broke out for 17 runs in game two as they scored at least four runs in all four innings they came to the plate. After a four-run opening frame, Drury scored five times in the second inning highlighted by a two-run blast to left field by Serenity Healy. Madoline Seumalo followed with a grand slam an inning later to put the Panthers in front 13-1.
 
Seumalo had a six-RBI game in the second half of the doubleheader as the junior from Kent, Washington went 3 for 3 with two doubles and three runs scored. Mathis had four RBI's and went two for three with a run scored.
 
Taylor Norwald (1-0) got the win in her debut for the Panthers after going five innings allowing five hits and one run with two walks and two strikeouts.
 
Drury is back at home on Tuesday when they host Missouri Western State in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. at Thompson Field.
