OZARK – Drury's baseball Panthers split a GLVC doubleheader with UNDY winning the opener 8-4 before dropping the nightcap in seven innings by a 10-0 score at US Baseball Park on Friday.
Drury moved to 13-12 and 6-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while Indianapolis went to 12-10 and 5-5 in the league.
Drury jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the opener after the opening two frames.
Collin Fraley singled home a pair in the first and
Jackson Dierenfeldt (single),
Aaron Mann (double) each had RBI base knocks in the second. The Greyhounds got on the board in the top of the third with a two RBI double.
Both teams remained scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings before the Panthers clawed a pair of runs across on a two RBI single by
Aaron Mann, who finished the day 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs. UINDY tacked on runs in the eighth and ninth to cut the lead to 8-4.
Alex Austin came in with the bases loaded in the ninth and earned his second save of the season.
Drury outhit the Greyhounds 12-6 with
Collin Fraley posting a 2-for-3 game with a pair of RBIs for the Panthers.
Tom Tewes (4-2) went seven innings and allowed just three hits and two runs while fanning four Greyhounds to earn the win for the Panthers.
In the nightcap, UINDY put an eight spot on the board in the opening inning and scored eight runs on six hits and three Drury errors. They tacked on two runs in the top of the seventh to capture a 10-0 run rule victory over seven innings.
UINDY put up 11 hits and held Drury to just two hits.
Drury continues home action in the final game of the three-game series with Indianapolis. First pitch is set for a noon start on Saturday at US Baseball Park in Ozark.
