ST. LOUIS, Mo.– Drury stayed within striking distance of ninth-ranked Maryville, but Ben Brodie's two goals were the difference in a 2-0 win for the Saints on Friday in St. Louis.
Maryville moved to 5-0 and 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while Drury dropped to 3-2 and 1-1 in the league.
Maryville got on the board early as Ben Brodie put the Saints in front in the game's fifth minute. Drury played the game short-handed with several starters out with injuries, including their leading goal-scorer
Jamie O'Brien, but managed to stay close. Shots on goal were even at four apiece, but Maryville would get Brodie's second goal of the game in the 69th minute to go ahead 2-0.
Six different Drury players were credited with a shot in the game.
The Panthers return home on Sunday when they host Missouri S&T at 2:30 p.m. at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex.
