Panthers open GLVC schedule at home
The Panthers start their title defense in the Great Lakes Valley Conference this weekend when they host the University of the Missouri-St. Louis on Friday and Lindenwood on Saturday at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

The Panthers were the co-champions of the GLVC last season going 15-3 in the league, 28-7 overall and got to the NCAA-II tournament for the first time in program history. Drury lost four starters off of last year's squad and are off to a 6-7 start, but the Panthers have played three ranked teams, and four of their seven losses have come in five sets.

Drury will get a stern test in their conference opener as they face a UMSL team off to a 12-0 start. The Tritons are getting votes for the NCAA-II top 25, and outside hitter Serena Nolte has earned the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week the last two weeks in a row.

Friday's game starts at 7 pm in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

On Saturday the Panthers host Lindenwood at 3 pm. The Lions are in their first year as a GLVC member and are off to a 7-2 start.

Freshman Julia McCown leads Drury as the Ozark native is averaging 3.53 kills per set. Fellow newcomer Makina Wratten, a sophomore transfer from Missouri State, is putting up 3.18 kills per set, 1.18 blocks per set and 20 service aces.

Following this weekend's games, the Panthers travel to Southern Indiana for a game on Friday, Oct. 4 in Evansville.
