SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- The Drury Panthers improved to 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and won for the sixth time in their last seven games with a 3-1 win over Lindenwood at the O'Reilly Family Event Center in Springfield on Saturday.

Drury improved to 8-7 and 2-0 in the league while dropping the Lions to 8-3 and 1-1 in the conference.

The Panthers held off Lindenwood for a 27-25 win in the opening set and cruised to a 25-18 win in the second. The Lions pulled away for a 25-22 win in the third set before Drury closed out the match with a 27-25 win in the fourth.

Taylor Forth had two solo blocks, six block assists and eight kills to lead the Panthers.
Regan Dennis had 14 kills while
Julia McCown added 12.
Reba Thomsen contributed 36 assists and 10 digs.

"We talked a lot about utilizing the successes and the failures we experienced in our three tournaments leading into the start of our conference season," said Drury head coach
Jenifer Bahner. "I was pleased to see our mentality this weekend to come out strong in conference play and make a statement from the very beginning."

Lindenwood's Alexa Pressley led the Lions with 12 kills. The Lions are in their first season as a GLVC member.Â

Drury plays their first conference road games next weekend as they travel to Southern Indiana on Oct. 4 and McKendree on Oct. 5.
