SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury opened the 2019 season with a 1-0 win over 22nd ranked Northeastern State at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex in Springfield on Friday.
Pablo Berrogain scored in the 50th minute for the only goal of the game.
Francesco Ferri found Berrogain on a deflection in front of the net and the senior from Zaragoza, Spain gave the Panther a 1-0 lead.
Yannick Lamers had four saves and posted a shutout in his first career start for Drury.
Northeastern State had a chance to draw even in the 88th minute when James Doyle was awarded a penalty kick. Doyle, who had nine goals last season, had his shot hit the right post keeping Drury in front 1-0.
The win was Drury's seventh victory in nine games all-time against Northeastern State.
The Panthers are back at home on Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. game against Ouachita Baptist at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex.
