Lauren Holmes drops in 20 points as Drury wins at SBU 95-64

BOLIVAR, Mo.—Drury guard Lauren Holmes scored a career-high 20 points and added six steals in 21 minutes of playing time as the number one ranked Lady Panthers defeated Southwest Baptist 95-64 at the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar, Missouri on Monday.

Drury stayed unbeaten as they improved to 17-0 and 8-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Bearcats dropped to 9-7 and 3-5 in the league.

Holmes scored 16 points by halftime as the Lady Panthers owned a 50-29 lead at the intermission. The junior from Fayetteville, Arkansas, finished the game going 8 for 10 from the field and 4 for 5 from three-point range.

"The three-point line opened up (Lauren's) driving lane, and she was able to get in the lane and get some easy buckets," said Drury head coach Molly Miller. "It was nice to see her get going because it opened up everything else for our offense."

Kelsey Winfrey was the only other Drury player in double-figures as she finished with 10 points. The Lady Panthers featured a balanced offensive attack, and the DU bench produced 50 of the Lady Panthers 95 points. Monday's game marked the fourth time in five games Drury has scored at least 90 points.

Drury went 48 percent from the field hitting 34 of 70 shots, and they forced 32 turnovers against Southwest Baptist.

The Bearcats made 24 of their 48 attempts from the floor and were led by Kyleigh Vaught's 17 points.

The win was Drury's 54th straight regular season victory, and their 45th win in a row in the GLVC.

The Lady Panthers return to the road on Thursday as they take on the University of Indianapolis for a 4:30 pm (CST) game in Indianapolis, Indiana.
