SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers head into their second weekend of competition in the 2020 season with a four-game series against Winona State at US Baseball Park in Ozark. Drury will take on the Warriors in a doubleheader on Saturday, and another twin-bill on Sunday with noon starts for both.
 
The Panthers are 2-1 after winning two of three against East Central at home. That series was originally scheduled to be at East Central, but inclement weather relocated the three games to US Baseball Park, where Drury batted as the visiting team in two of the three games.
 
Winona State is off to a 2-1 start after the Warriors started the year taking two out of three at Pittsburg State last weekend. Winona State went 26-23 last year.
 
The two teams are meeting for the first time since 2018 when the Panthers took two games from the Warriors winning 6-1 and 6-5 at US Baseball Park. DU leads the all-time series 4-0.
 
Drury heads to Hawaii after this weekend's series. The Panthers will play five games against Hawaii Pacific Feb. 21-23 in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
 
Diamond Notes
--Jacob Mitchell was the GLVC Player of the Week last week as he went 4 for 11 at the plate with two runs, an RBI and two stolen bases
-- Tom Tewes, Saturday's game one starter for Drury, was the GLVC Pitcher of the Week after his record-setting start last week against East Central. The junior set a team record with 13 strikeouts, and did that in 6.2 innings. He did not allow an earned run in Drury's season-opening win last Saturday.
-- Neither Tewes nor Hunter Becker, Drury's other number two starting pitcher, gave up an earned run last weekend, but both registered no-decisions in their starts.
-- 3B Aaron Mann had a hit all in all three games last weekend going 3 for 11 in the three games.
