Panthers look to continue roll at William Jewell
The Drury Panthers will look to extend their five-game winning streak as they take on William Jewell on Saturday afternoon in Liberty, Missouri.

Drury is 16-7 and 9-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference after their 80-72 win at Rockhurst on Thursday.

William Jewell is 9-14 and 4-11 in the GLVC. The Cardinals are coming off of a 76-65 loss to Southwest Baptist at home on Thursday as they fell for the fourth time in five games. William Jewell's lone win in this current stretch came against Bellarmine, though, in a 70-69 overtime win over the Knights in Liberty.

The Cardinals are led by first-year head coach Chris McCabe. McCabe replaced Larry Holley, who had been at the helm of the William Jewell program for 40 seasons. McCabe was previously the head coach at North High School in Liberty, where he led that program to back-to-back Show-Me Showdown appearances and three trips to the quarterfinals in his nine seasons.

William Jewell is one of Drury's oldest rivals, and Saturday's game will be the 138th meeting all-time between the two programs. The Panthers lead the all-time series 77-60, but the two squads have split their last 10 games, and Drury as lost their previous four trips to William Jewell. The Panthers will be seeking their first win in Liberty since Jan. 17, 2015 when they won 74-57. Drury lost last year's game in the Mabee Center 81-80.

Panthers guard Conley Garrison is averaging 25.7 points in his last three games. The junior from Bolivar had 25 points against Lewis on Feb. 6, then had a career-high 38 on Feb. 8 against Illinois Springfield. On Thursday at Rockhurst, Garrison put in 21 with seven rebounds, four assists, and six steals.

Drury is back at home on Thursday when they host Truman State, a team with the best record in the GLVC as they enter the weekend with a 13-2 mark in the league, and they own a 17-6 record overall. The game is scheduled for a 7:45 pm start at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
