SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury University men's basketball head coach Steve Hesser announced the signing of guard Quenton Shelton out of Lebanon, Missouri.

Shelton was this season's Ozark Conference Player of the Year, the Player of the Year in his district, and was named All-State in Class 5. He was also a First Team All-Conference and All-District selection for the Yellowjackets as he averaged 25.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. The 6'2", 185-pound guard set Lebanon's all-time scoring record, topped 2,000 points in his career, and set a program record for three-pointers made in a single season.

"We would like to welcome Quenton and his family to Drury University and our basketball family," said coach Hesser. "Quenton was one of the best players in the area, and when you look at his numbers, it would be hard to argue that. His ability to score and shoot the basketball from deep makes him a difficult matchup. He is a team-first guy, and we are excited to get Quenton on campus."

Shelton helped Lebanon to a 17-10 record and a 7-2 mark in the Ozark Conference playing under head coach Bill Brown. On Feb. 25 of this season, he poured in 32 points and grabbed seven rebounds at Kickapoo in a 70-57 win for the Yellowjackets over a team that eventually reached the state final four.

Shelton is the second signing announced by the Panthers so far this season. Earlier this week, Drury announced the addition of Josh Wallace (F, 6-6, 215, St. Louis, Mo. – Christian Brothers / Strength N Motion International Academy).

More announcements on additions to the signing class will follow in the next several days.

The Panthers finished the 2019-20 season 20-9, and 13-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Drury will return nine lettermen, including All-Midwest Region and First Team All-GLVC selection Conley Garrison.
