DALLAS, Tex.— The Drury men's bowling team competed in their first events of the season last weekend in Dallas, Texas. The Panthers finished second among seven teams at the SWIBC I tournament, then came in fourth among nine squads at the SWIBC II event the following day.
 
In the SWIBC I tournament on Saturday, Drury posted an overall total of 5,330 to finish behind only Newman's winning number of 5,509. West Texas A&M was third with 5,291. Drury's Jeremy Vanost, a freshman from Jerseyville, Illinois, led all bowlers in the event with a tournament average of 205.3. Jared Coker posted the fifth-best mark in the event with an average of 194.3.
 
On Sunday, the Panthers came in fourth with a score of 1,910. Barton Community College won the tournament with 2,072, while Newman came in second, scoring 2,066. The Panthers were led by Brendan Vanost who finished 14^th overall after bowling a 189 in game one, followed by a 211 in the second game.
 
The Drury men's bowling team is scheduled to compete again in the Mid-States Championships hosted by Wichita State on Feb. 6-7 in Wichita, Kansas.
