DALLAS, Tex.— The Drury men's bowling team competed in their first events of the season last weekend in Dallas, Texas. The Panthers finished second among seven teams at the SWIBC I tournament, then came in fourth among nine squads at the SWIBC II event the following day.
In the SWIBC I tournament on Saturday, Drury posted an overall total of 5,330 to finish behind only Newman's winning number of 5,509. West Texas A&M was third with 5,291. Drury's
Jeremy Vanost, a freshman from Jerseyville, Illinois, led all bowlers in the event with a tournament average of 205.3.
Jared Coker posted the fifth-best mark in the event with an average of 194.3.
On Sunday, the Panthers came in fourth with a score of 1,910. Barton Community College won the tournament with 2,072, while Newman came in second, scoring 2,066. The Panthers were led by
Brendan Vanost who finished 14
th overall after bowling a 189 in game one, followed by a 211 in the second game.
The Drury men's bowling team is scheduled to compete again in the Mid-States Championships hosted by Wichita State on Feb. 6-7 in Wichita, Kansas.
