DU swim teams return to pool with wins over William Jewell

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury's swimming & diving teams returns to the pool for competition and earned wins over William Jewell at the Breech Pool on Friday. The Drury men's team picked up a 135-67 victory while the Panthers women's squad won 151-40. It was Drury's first competition since November. 
 
Women's Highlights
Allison Weber set a Breech Pool record in the 1650 Freestyle. The junior from Marshall, Missouri, won the event with a time of 16:59.93.
 
The 200 Individual Medley was decided by two-hundredths of a second as Drury's Kasia Rogowska edged teammate Bec Cross. Rogowska, a sophomore from Poland, posted a time of 2:08.80, while Bec Cross was second with a time of 2:08.82.
 
Cross returned to blow out the competition in the 200 Breaststroke. The junior from Australia swam in the event in 2:30.11 and won by more than seven seconds.
 
Laura Pareja also won her event by a wide margin as the junior from Spain posted a time of 2:07.11 in the 200 Backstroke winning by 4.1 seconds.
 
Men's Highlights
Karol Ostrowski, a freshman from Poland, who has set NCAA-II records already this season, earned a win in the 200 Freestyle. Ostrowski posted a time of 1:41.36 to finish ahead of teammate Jan Rasmussen by 1.1 seconds.
 
The 500 Freestyle was decided by a fraction of a second as Lukas Steiner, making his debut for the Panthers, earned a narrow win over teammate Lucas Lima. Steiner won with a time of 4:42.06, while Lima was three-tenths of a second behind.
 
The 200 Breaststroke was also close as Drury's James Brown won, touching the wall in 2:08.81 while teammate Caleb Carlson was just behind with a time of 2:08.93.
 
Two of Drury's 400 Free Relay teams went neck-and-neck in the event as well. The team of Graham Wells, Dawid Nowodworski, Ean Vandergraaf, and Kham Glass combined for a time of 3:06.77 and won by three-hundredths of a second over a squad of Steiner, Caden Akal, Rasmussen, and Ostrowski.
 
 
Both Drury teams return to competition when they host Missouri State in the 'Duel in the Pool' on Jan. 16 at the Breech Pool.
