Drury stays perfect in GLVC with 2-0 win over Missouri S&T

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury's best start in program history improved again on Sunday as the Panthers added a 2-0 win over Missouri S&T at Harrison Stadium in Springfield on Sunday.

The Panthers scored twice in the second half and blanked the Miners to improve to 8-1 and 6-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Drury remains the league's only team without a conference tie or loss. The win gives the program their first 6-0 start in conference play. Missouri S&T dropped to 3-3-2 and 2-2-2 in the GLVC.

After a scoreless first half, a corner kick helped set up Drury's first goal. Tara Simon fired in a shot from a ball that bounced off a Miners defender in the 54th minute to put the Panthers in front. The goal was the second of the season for the freshman from Brighton, Michigan.

Twelve minutes later, sophomore Elsa Gonzalez scored her fourth goal of the season, ripping a shot from the right side of the field into the bottom left corner of the net.

Kaitlin Knetzke recorded her seventh shutout of the season and picked up the win in goal for the Panthers. Missouri S&T put up six shots with one on goal.

Drury goes on the road for their next game as they travel to Missouri-St. Louis on Friday for a 5 pm game.
