KIRKSVILLE, Mo.— The Drury Panthers fell twice in a Great Lakes Valley Conference triangular as second-ranked Lewis swept Drury 3-0 and host Truman State defeated the Panthers 3-2 in Kirksville, Missouri, on Sunday.
Lewis stayed undefeated with their 25-15, 25-12, 25-18 win over Drury. The Flyers posted 42 kills and 10 blocks in the three-set win.
Kayla Allison led Drury with 23 digs, while
Ali Jansen had six kills for the Panthers.
Truman State edged Drury in five sets in the Panthers second match of the day. Drury won the first set, 26-24 but lost the second 25-22. The Panthers took a 2-1 lead with a 25-19 win in the third, but the Bulldogs forced a fifth set with a 25-17 win. The fifth set was even at 10-10 when Truman State reeled off three straight points to take control. Drury fought off one match-point to pull within one, 14-13, but a Panthers error gave TSU the win.
Chloe Rear led Drury with 16 kills, 24 assists, and four blocks. Allison had 23 digs, and
Tayte Kozlowski chipped in with 14 kills.
The Panthers ended the day at 4-4 while Truman State also went to 4-4.
Drury will host a GLVC triangular on Friday. The Panthers will take on Illinois Springfield at 10 am, then Lindenwood at 6 pm.
