QUINCY, Ill.— Drury split two matches in a Great Lakes Valley Conference triangular on Saturday, defeating 13
th ranked Southern Indiana 3-0, but falling to host Quincy 3-1 at Pepsi Arena in Quincy, Illinois.
The Panthers finished the day with a 7-7 record while sending the Screaming Eagles to 10-4 and Quincy to 12-4.
Drury started their day with a sweep over 13
th ranked Southern Indiana (25-22, 25-21, 26-24). The Panthers took the first two sets, then held off a late charge from the Screaming Eagles to close out the match.
Chloe Rear had 9 kills and 13 assists for the Panthers, while
Makina Wratten added eight kills and four blocks.
Quincy took a 1-0 lead over the Panthers in Drury's second match of the day as the Hawks took the opening set 27-25. Their momentum carried into the second set handing the Panthers a 25-15 loss, but Drury won the third set 25-23. The Hawks closed the match with a 10-point win in the fourth.
Chloe Rear had 12 kills and 13 digs for the Panthers, while
Makina Wratten contributed 11 kills and six blocks. Quincy posted a .255 hitting percentage to Drury's .128.
Drury is back at home next weekend when they host William Jewell on Saturday at 3 pm at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
